As most of you know, I'm not a huge fan of Twilight. This essay-thing was spawned over at twilight_sucks as we discussed the Doctor/Rose age difference vs. the Bella/Edward age difference.

On first glance, Bella and Rose seem to have had pretty much the same kind of life before they met their significant others. Both lived with a single parent, both were relatively normal and boring, both were teenagers, etc. The same goes with their lives after they meet the men of their dreams: they suddenly weren't normal anymore, their entire world was changed...you get the picture.
